We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.

Pinky

... is a small doily from a Japanese tatting book. There are only schematic drawings to follow and this is only the first part.

More tomorrow.

Lace Mat: Completed

Finally.

I like how the colours turn out – subtle bits of orange and browns interspersed among the red.

Back on Track

After leaving off this doily for some time (so that I can cool my head), I'm back to tatting it. If you'd seen my earlier post, there was a mis-joint in the middle of the third row and I had to back track. Now it's going forward, and I leave you with this. Can't wait to see it finished. :)

Gentle reminder: Don't forget to enter in the giveaway here.

Tat-along: Decision

I'm going with the deep red for the next row. Let's see where instinct takes me next.

Happy Tatting!

Tat-along: Day 2

I changed the thread after the first round I tatted yesterday because the #50 thread was rather fiddly to handle. Restarted the doily in a Flora #20.

The first round is completed, and on to the second. I had originally wanted to work a split ring to jump to the next round but changed my mind as I am going with a solid colour next. Here it is now.

More progress update perhaps tomorrow. :)

Tat-along: The Lace Mat

I'm doing this tat-along using Jon's chart of the Norma Benporath pattern, and am only on the first row. You can find the chart on her blog here.

Do bear with me for being slow. I quite like what I have done.

Tatted using Omega #50 variegated purple

Thanks, Jon, for sharing this with tat-land.

Hope everyone's having a good weekend.

Using the Kimono threads

I have been tatting... especially with the new Kimono thread that I was talking about, recommended by Lynn in this post.
Made a curious little motif with the black and white variegated. Also with a smaller #70 DMC cotton and metallic silver. I had a lot of fun doing this. Can you guess which pattern it is?

Tatted another motif with this thread... It's a motif for a coffee table mat.

Next up, a doily that's almost complete, minus one last round. (Lost steam for now but I might pick it up again some time. ;P)

Both these patterns can be found in this little booklet that Jane Eborall shared some time back. I managed to get a copy, and I love it.

I certainly have a new project waiting and I'm very keen to get crackin'. But before that, I gotta do some homework. Till then...

Hope you are having a nice weekend.

P.S. Jane wrote up a pattern for the Fandango corners and tatted up a pretty duo-colour sample. It's gorgeous. Find her post about it here.

And On With More Tatting...

The motif (by Castats) I was tatting up on ITD. Nope I wasn't going to attempt a runner. :p It's a gorgeous square motif, now finished and blocked. Just wanted give an update on this.

Now on to a doily I'm caught on tatting. It's the "Flowerpiece" by Mary Kornior in her book Tatting with Visual Patterns, on pages 56-7. 3 out of 4 motifs done so far. I'm not sure I like the bright orange thread as the colour's hurting my eyes. LOL

And there are 2 fabulous giveaways. The first is happening on TattingChic's blog. It's her 2nd Blogversary. YAY! Some great items to be won there.

Next up, Elanor from Shantock Bears is having a giveaway too. A cute little mouse! Check it out. I bet you'll be mesmerised by it's cute face!

A Square Doily At Last!

It's been a really long time since I tatted a doily. This one's from Jan Stawasz's Tatting Theory and Patterns. Jan is one of favourite designers. The pattern is not difficult but it took me quite a while because I kept loosing count... :p and have to retro tat. I love the colours of this doily. Hope you do too.

Psss, please don't scrutinise this piece of work. There are lots of 'mistakes'. Arghhhh!

Tatted Things in Blue

It's one of those rare weekends when I get to rest, tat and do the minimum. I've started on something in black, but have not decided what it'll end up to be. There are quite a few possibilities... Perhaps this will draw some curiosity and guesses. Let's wait and see.

I've tatted up 2 things some weeks back but hadn't put them up. So without much ado, here they are:

Sherry's Chaterlaine by Ladyshuttlemaker

Now I'm going back to my tatting in black...

Hope you had a good weekend and a better week ahead.
