We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.

Year of the Golden Horse

30 January marked the first day of the Lunar New Year 2014. It's the Year of the Golden Horse up next! Here are a few pictures of my simple preparation for the celebration.

A simple flora arrangement that symbolises Spring, with a basket of oranges to signify prosperity and luck
Cookies freshly baked by Mum -- a must-have to entertain all the guests who comes along to visit

A closer look at this little Laughing Buddha -- he hands out a red packet (Hong Bao) to wish one and all
a Lucky and Smooth-sailing Year ahead
And the Golden Horse leads the way into a brand new prosperous year (picture taken at Chinatown)

Here's wishing you
马年行好运,心想事成
(May the Year of the Horse bring good luck throughout, and make your dreams come true.)

Year of the Ox

The Year of the Ox has arrived! Financial analysts around the world are busy predicting the year ahead─is it gonna be bull's run or a 'hardworking' year? No one knows...

Been busy springcleaning and putting up some CNY decor. Here's a glimpse of my living room niche. Flowers represent spring─'hwa kai fu gui' (when the flowers bloom, prosperity and good luck follows).

And the basket of mandarin oranges that's supposed to represent a basket of 'gold' (pronounced 'kum' in cantonese). When people go visiting during CNY, oranges are exchanged and the wish of prosperity and wealth is given to the other person receiving the oranges. Of course, good wishes such as 'shen ti jian kang' (wish you health) and 'bu bu gao sheng' (may you get promotions) are other common terms.

OK, I was distracted... :p My new shuttles have arrived! Got my first HDT too. (Hee hee...) This is the ceramic shuttle from Sherry, and 'Marina'.

Jan's shuttles have also arrived.

Ain't they beautiful?!

Blessed wishes to all my friends. 'Gong xi fa cai' (congratulations on gaining wealth).
