A Square Doily At Last!
It's been a really long time since I tatted a doily. This one's from Jan Stawasz's Tatting Theory and Patterns. Jan is one of favourite designers. The pattern is not difficult but it took me quite a while because I kept loosing count... :p and have to retro tat. I love the colours of this doily. Hope you do too.
Psss, please don't scrutinise this piece of work. There are lots of 'mistakes'. Arghhhh!

Wanted to thank you for stopping by. I love your tatting. I love all tatting. I can't do it, but I think it is all lovely. Love the colors, and I'm not a blue person, but it is a beautiful piece. Hope you will visit again.
ReplyDeleteSmiles,
Pat

ReplyDeleteIt's very pretty! I've long wanted to do one of Jan's Doilies. He make such beautiful patterns! I haven't had the time, yet!
ReplyDeleteThe colors look very nice. :)
Hi Pat, thanks for popping over. Glad you like this piece.
ReplyDeleteHeehee, thanks, Jane.
Do, Diane. I'm going to find another doily pattern in the book to challenge myself once again soon.
Thanks, Brenda.
Hey Gina, thanks. I don't think so. I might just keep it in a nice flat folder until I find a permanent place to use it.
Sally, this doily took over 3 weeks but I was tatting between doing some bookmarks and pendants. It's quite an accomplishment to me. ;)
Hi TattingChic, I just thought I'd tat a doily in a plain colour but didn't like white. It turned out nice and I'm happy.
Yikes! I clicked the wrong button and deleted the following comments. Sorry. Thank God I managed to copy them from my email alerts. Phew!

ReplyDeleteHi Val, Thanks for your comment on my Blog. I totally forgot that you're in Singapore too...but nice to know, that I have more reasons to visit Singapore. NowI have Ellen and you to visit ^_^
ReplyDeleteThat's quite a bog doily I think. Great job. I don't think I'll be able to do such a big doily.
Val! Oh good heavens! Exquisite work, and I love the blues. I haven't seen very many square doilies, and I can imagine how difficult it is to tat. Fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI love the design of this doily!! Nice Job!
ReplyDeleteI really like this doily! I was going "ooooh!" as it loaded. Love the colors and I am a blue person! Great job!
ReplyDeleteValerie ~ I stumbled upon your blog and so glad I did! My grandma used to be the "queen" of tatting. Her fingers just flew. She always wanted to teach me and of course then I said "no thanks". Now I wish I had learned...it seems to be almost a lost art. Glad you are doing it!
